Universal activator temp

I am a new jobber and want to give my customers correct advice. I sold a gal of universal and slow act. Two days later the customer was ready to clear his car but the temp was colder the expected. Metal temp was 60* so I gave him the normal act to use instead. Would the slow act have worked or what act would have been the best choice?

I think you did right giving him the normal with that metal temp.
The slow could have worked but it would have required longer flash times and another choice would have been to blend the slow and normal, say 1/2 + 1/2 if he was doing a large all over.

Would you have to blend through out the whole job or can you just blend on the last coat?

May or may not be necessary deepening on so many different conditions as well as type of gun and how he paints, just impossible to answer.
Like I tell people everyday only thing to remember is every additional coat must be same blend or slower, never speed up a later coat that is faster then the previous coat.

If it was me and conditions you gave, I would have used the normal if an allover and maybe the last coat do a 50/50 as kind of a flow coat.
If just a front end or side, I may have just used the normal all the way.

Thanks Barry. He did a complete and used normal all the way threw and it looks great.

So if normal is for 60 deg, what the heck is the fast for?

bumpers, fenders, cutting in and we have about a 100 lot painters using it in winter.

25 degrees with Fast with a good shot of polar. Nothing better. Barry, you need to have Dub start a section for mobile guys.

I like that, you might bring it up to him, I bet we have 100-150 of them around the country.
Is there not a site already for them? If so not sure where we would fit in.

We have special requirements and face different challenges. There are other sites but none are run as well and have lost the educational part of what forums are about. I hope many guys are able to get together.
