Toyota bumper color fade?

This is more for my own curiousity, but does anyone know why the paint on the rear bumpers on some Toyotas seems to never match the rest of the car? I seem to notice it a lot on cars that are about 10 years old and mostly on gold colored cars. I asked one of service guys at a Toyota dealership about it and he didn't know why but said that is one thing they look at on trade-ins to help determine if the car had been repainted....meaning if the colors matched they suspect a repaint.

You mean if it looks like crap, it's worth more money on trade?

More on point, most factory bumpers don't quite match the car. Some are worse than others. I can't say if Toyota is any worse than other makes, but it's common knowledge that bumpers are painted in a different location than the cars.

I have repainted bumpers with epoxy before bascoat/clearcoat and
they still aged differently (contrary to what I've been told).
And those were old "aged" bumpers, not new ones.
There's something about some plastics that paint ages differently on,
no matter what you do. Maybe it's because plastics expand differently,
I don't know.
But new cars are usually the result of being painted at a different time
and/or location.

Notice the door handles don't match either.

It was my understanding on the older non-US made Toyotas the bumpers were painted at the port of entry which is why they never matched new on the dealer lot.

4M9 was such a lovely color to match too.......
