To sandwich or not to sandwich

As I seen on Dream car Garage a couple years ago , he was doing the body on some 6 figures car , and he said to do this in that order:

Sandblast
Epoxy
Rough filler
Epoxy
light filler
2k primer
base
clear.

Note that on my project , I got fiberglass panels AND metal panels. He said that , that way the fillers are sealed in , and it wont come back to haunt you later on.

Opinions?

I don't know about dream car garage, but there is nothing wrong with the above procedure. It's almost exactly how we do things in my shop. Many have even omitted the 2K urethane step in favor of 2 more epoxy steps. I've done that a few times, but most things get a bit of 2K for more blocking.

The one thing I see missing is the epoxy sealer between the last primer and the base. A coat of 1:1:1 epoxy can be laid down as the first coat of base to maximize adhesion. It's not mandatory, but it is best practice.
