Tape Time?

How soon can a person tape over this sealer? Working on a two-tone, just need to know the proper window.

I've never tried that with any wet-on-wet process. One thing that can be done is to shoot a coat of transparent base or Intercoat over the sealer, then you don't have a window anymore.

Well, the sealer I ordered turned out to be the gray primer, so at his point, I'm not worried about it.

I had to use another brand of sealer.

I didn't want to but it has to be in paint tomorrow.

Refer to the TDS of the product you are using. There usually is a time given for that. Generally though you don't tape until after the first color goes on. Helps to avoid trying to follow the original tape line when you are remasking. Hard to do, which is why it's a good idea to not do it. :)

On two tones I tape over base not sealer. Never tried taping on sealer. Also, as stated, check the TDS on the sealer. I recall a particular sealer that only had a 2 hour recoat window and if you based after the 2 hours there was chance for wrinkling. So thats something to consider when working on multi color / complex time consuming jobs.
