I have an 85 Jag XJ6 with leaky sunroof. Sadly the original hardware to repair this is getting to be impossible to locate. Considering doing away with the sunroof when I repaint the car this summer. Any thoughts on this?
 
I was thinking of maybe tig welding the old panel in place as a start. Better ideas? Just really frustrated with having to replace the headliner every couple of years.
 
Depending on your fabrication skills you could make a replacement panel to eliminate the sunroof, or source a XJ without a sunroof at the junkyard and use that roof to make your "patch panel". Another option might be to source a factory sunroof from another car with a similar profile and patch that in. You'd have to make a custom headliner but that would eliminate the leaky Jag roof.
