spraying speeds

That’s as reasonable as you can get for a sata these days. I added one to my cart and saw the vat charge and said scrap that lol.

To the OP, I have brand new Sagola 4500’s for almost half that :p lol. But, you made the right choice. If you want a sata you’ll never be happy with something else or you’ll always be wondering what it would be like lol.

There is no VAT charge if you are purchasing from outside the UK and the EU. Only applies to those living in the UK or the EU.

Good to know. I picked United States and it popped up with vat charge. But I also didn’t follow all the way thru with the purchase so it may disappear. What’s your thoughts on Sata 5500 for base? My only experience was hvlp 1.2 5000. Would you use hvlp? I or O? Tip sizes? Curious what your thoughts are. Personally for base coat the best gun I’ve used so far for metallics was DV1 base gun. Made most colors pretty effortlessly. Where as if I handed someone my lph they would probably struggle a bit with golds, silvers etc until they got used to the gun.

I've never used an I. The O nozzle 5500"s are similar to 5000's (which are excellent guns). I've always used a HVLP 1.3 or even 1.4 needle/nozzle for base. Same would apply for the 5500's in the O nozzles. O is the classic/traditional Sata spray pattern. 1.3 HVLP O nozzle, would be an excellent choice for base. Maybe someone who has used the I needle nozzle can comment on what they are like.

I have an Iwata Super Nova that I like, also have a Sata 5000 but it didn't suit my style. It seems to me that the "O" type would need an 80% overlap to get even coverage, but then would also need to spray very fast to prevent runs, as in this Sata demo.

I've got the Super Nova as well and really like it. Different settings than most guns but once dialed on, very nice.

I have only held a Sata in my hand. I haven't used one. The only thing about them that I was unsure about was the piece of metal that stuck out under the trigger. It just felt different in the way I gripped it. I have an lph400 Iwata that I like and a Tekna/Prolite. The Devilbiss fits better in my hand, but its so disturbing about all the Chinese knockoffs all over the internet. My favorite gun is my lph80, but its just a detail gun. I would like to find a full size gun that I like just as much. I just don't have enough experience with the full size guns yet. I would love to try a Super Nova. Never even held one yet

Look into sagola. A friend of mine has one and its a fast gun for sure. I shoot with devilbiss, lately the dv1s. Great guns but they are slow.

you know I'm kind surprised that a gun I ordered from the UK arrived in less than 5 days, but a dekups adaptor ordered from USA is still not here go figure

I once ordered a set of nice coil springs for my Saab from the UK...The springs literally arrived the next day, i kid you not

I know it may seem like a long time since buying this gun and no review but my day job comes first, I'm a project superintendent for one of largest mechanical contractors in my area and busy with lack of help you find now days. today I was able to spray my doors and fenders and must say this gun rocks for my style or lack of LoL. I did get a run on one of my doors but I'll take that over the peel I was getting. Will add pictures later today, I'm between coats right now but got my Happy shoes on now!!!

For years, through all the changes in spray guns I sought to find guns that sprayed faster. I never used the Iwata LPH400 because I was told it was a slow deliberate type of gun. I have had good results with some of the Walcoms. I ended up with a Sata 5000 RP 1.3 and that's all I use now for clear.
Sata is the cutting edge of engineering, for me they are on the edge of running.o_O;)

here's few pic's from today, I sprayed 4 coats as I'm trying to look ahead for cut an buff
