Sprayed SPI epoxy today. What now long term project?

Finally got my doors, fenders and hood in SPI black epoxy today (two coats). This is a long term project ('57 Chev) and might be a year or two before I finish the body and do final paint. My thought is to leave the pieces in SPI epoxy and then as I am closer to paint, finish with 2K or Slick Sand. Is this a good plan?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The SPI epoxy will protect the metal during the restoration and when you are ready for the bodywork, you can clean the panels really good with SPI 710, scuff them with maroon scotch brite pad, clean again and your ready for the next step. The epoxy sands very well, so you could also sand the panels with 180 to see where you are starting at with the body work.

If you are going to let them sit for any length of time beyond the 7day period say, say 1 month, I would scuff them at that time and respray with epoxy before using anything else on them. If working them before that time (1 month) then I would feel good to scuff and do whatever needed. Epoxy will stick best to aged Epoxy and then if worked in the 7day window you will have no problems with the next step.
