I've seen it mentioned a couple times. But is a diaphragm regulator a "requirement" for better results? My tekna copper came with a devilbiss digital regulator. Do I need to get a diaphragm one instead??

Is your regulator like this one ?

I would put it in the drawer , although It could be used with good results if your air supply is large enough that the tank pressure remains constant. It your tank pressure drops 20 psi a diaphragm type will compensate for that, a bleed screw type wont and your gun adjustment will vary with tank pressure changes. I think the $35 to buy a true diaphram regulator is a low cost measure to take one more variable out of the equation of success. RTI is what I have used for years, inexpensive and reliable .

I switched to a diaphragm style a few months back,,,, it got rid of my air pressure problem. No matter what I set it on it stays now.

Thanks for the replies. Diaphragm it is. I'll be picking up two of them. Thanks again.
