split bumper camaro

B

blazerman

Finally got it out in the daylight today after flow coat! Still have a little peel and some trash (and maybe a run - shhh) to cut/buff out but man, it looks cool when the sun hits it. I think I finally figured out the lph settings that worked for me on the last 2 flow coats (after I boogered up the first coat), 2 1/2 out fluid and in 1 full turn in fan.
Like I said before, thanks to everyone who answered my questions and thanks to spi for killer products and support, this end product is exceeding the expectations I had for my garage paint job. I will update after cut & buff/assembly.

I love that car! you hit it perfect -stance / wheels / tires / colors / stripes The whole package is just right.

I just started using an lph400 & uv clear myself. Those settings are very close, The only thing that messes me up is making SURE the gun is close to the panel, about 4-5". When I forget this I get peel. I just cant make uv run.

nice!! i just got the same car dropped off at the shop 2 days ago. its my next car project comming up.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I am pretty proud. This thing is like my second childhood, I had one of these in high school that I didn't have funds/skill to do what I wanted to so I get to do it right this time around!

"flow coats made a difference eh? Looks nice!"

I had higher hopes for the flow coat with regards to the peel but I had the adjustment wrong on the gun the first coat - those lph's are really touchy, 1/2 turn adjustment on the fluid and it was like a different tool but by then it was too late. Cut & buff will make a huge difference - I had no problem making runs on the first coat :)

Thanks, a huge compliment! The rest of the car should be pretty cool too, I have a very nice interior package going in, it has a nasty 450HP small block in it and a 4 speed & posi. I will update as I complete it.

Stunning results on the RS Blazerman. A favorite color combo of mine on early second generation F-Bodys. I still need to pick a color and just cannot decide. My '70 was "done" once by me before I could weld. It was a pretty putty sculpture. Now it has all fresh rear metal a solid trunk and window channels. Mostly redone I hope to spend a little more time on it late in the summer. A family with teen aged kids and too many other interests get in the way. Again, nice work. Post up after the cut and buff.

We got a very unusual sunny pacific nw february day so I thought I would share some (pretty much) finished product pics of my car - couldn't have done it without the great products from SPI and help from everyone here, thanks all!

Nice to see a real rally sport instead of someone turding up a standard with rs bumpers.
It turned out fantastic, nice job!

Thanks guys!

Looks like a really nice car, and plenty of tire!! :) I like it!
Thanks for the pro spray base, even a rookie like me can handle the metallic in the stuff and believe me I was scared!

lol.. no problem, didn't even realize who you were until you just said that.. I like that body style.
