spi over glasurit/diamont

I have a 55 chevy belair Coral/Gray two tone to paint this spring. The only CORRECT color I can find was by a body shop in Florida that used BASF products (they used glasurit) and have provided me with the formula. I am unable to source glasurit 55 base in the northeast, and my closest BASF store claims they have a formula in Diamont that will be correct, no way to cross formulas from the glasurit. Will SPI work over these bases, and can I get some glasurit somewhere that can be mixed to my custom formula?

check with chad here on the site. he may be able to mix it in prospray . but to answer the question sure it will work fine over either.

I have had some good luck with a few colors for those cars.

I am using diamont base on my 78 TA with universal clear and it looks fantastic. I have had zero compatability issues.

i have been using spi and diamont for years. everything in my gallery is spi under and over either hok or diamont. i am pretty much 95% diamont these days. the two work awesome together. i can mix any diamont formula here. where are you located and whats the code/formula you have?

oops just noticed this is about 3 weeks old.

Thanks for the reply-haven't ordered anything yet, I am in Maine and the closest glasurit dealer is 300 miles away and the closest diamont is 150.The closer one is a paint store and they wont ship, so I dont want to drive 300 miles for a pint of base. The correct color is what I am worried about as this is a really tricky color (coral) and looks PINK if not mixed correctly or in a cheap base line. The shadow gray I'm assuming isa little more forgiving. I would definetly buy it from you if you could ship it. I have a formula for glasurit( mixing base, grams of toner) that is known to be correct, but I do not know if it can be crossed over to diamont. Ill take any help I can get!

Well i have the basf colorchip and formula disc that goes all the way back to 27. It applies to both diamont and glasurit. I looked it up and have a formula right here in front of me. Paint code is 626. A pint would run $50 shipped. I cant guarantee its an exact match to the glasurit but should be the same since they are all the same pigments, same company. Its usually colormatched under one system then the formula is just converted over.
