SPI Activator okay for use with Diamont 5300 clear?

I have some Diamont DC5300 clear leftover but the activator has now been open for over a year so I am guessing it is no good.
I have fresh Universal Clear Activator on hand will it work okay with the Diamont clear?
Thanks,
Jim

NO! Totally difference ISO packaged used, it would dry and look fine but never be fully cured, so to say, leaving a very weak finish and even a bird do-do could eat into it.

Yeah it not worth the risk. You might as well just toss the clear. Have you checked tp price of their activator lately. The are really proud of it at $140 a quart.

Are you serious?

Yes. It was 128 a year ago and they have had 2 price increases since then so it may be even more i dont know.

H-cow, I don't even have a gallon of clear for that much.

Price increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep that Diamont DH 46 and DH 42 keeps on going up in price everytime I go to my jobbers. The Glasurit clear hardener is $103.30 a quart...go figure? And all the Diamont and Glasurit clears are over $200 bucks a gallon, getting rediculous. I was priceing some 929-450 which I'm using on a job on a 35 Ford Cabriolet....$250 a gallon, mixed 2:1 I need two $103.30 dollar activators so I'm around $456.00 a sprayable gallon..waaaay too much!! It's crazy and all the "generic" brands are anywhere from $60 bucks to $130 bucks a set up...so either Glasurit and Diamont are putting liquid gold in the clear, or they are just making waay too much money off of us???...getting to the point that it would be cheaper to reshoot the car with a cheaper clear if it did fail rather then using Glasurit or Diamont clear.

Well I for one started using SPI because of the price and rave reviews on the product. Started out just using the Epoxy Primer, then moved to the 2k and then some base (ah the good ole days) and finally tried the clear. ALL of the products performed as good or better than PPG and Diamont lines I was using.
Although I have not sprayed any of the clears except the MS I can say that each time a put this stuff on I stand back and say wow that looks nice.

i've looked at some prices between glasurit and diamont, since working at the new shop (use diamont clear) and i was pretty amazed that alot of diamont stuff is priced higher than glasurit. I thought glasurit was basf's top line...hmm.

Yeah it's funny how some of the basf paint is priced. The diamont and 55 glasurit line spray pretty much the same to me.After questioning my basf rep one day I asked him how basf gets away using the same color-max 2 variant chips for the 55 glasurit line as diamont and got a deer in the headlight look. Later he admited that diamont uses majority of the same metallic's as the 55 line. Joe
