Solvent sprayer recommendation needed

I use the same ZEP spray bottle shown above for both 700 and 710.

For awhile the 700 would drip out of the nozzle of the bottle but it doesn’t anymore.

I used to pour the 700 back into the bottle when I was done. I haven’t done that lately now that the ZEP bottle has stopped dripping. Still works completely fine though.

By the way I’ve only ever used plastic spray bottles for years for both 700 and 710.

Thanks Jim. I will order that one for 700.
BTW, will The smith sprayer work for 710 as well or shout i keep the Sureshot style one I already have?

i would keep the sure shot. when you buy a sprayer you should always look up the rubber type and if its the best one suited for the job. the acetone sprayers will use epdm. google oring types. there are charts online that show the best rubber for the job. and chemical compatibility. 710 is mineral spirit base. 700 is acetone/alcohol/water.

no idea what is in the zep sprayers that lizer is using. i have a bunch around here and they work well for water base stuff and household cleaners. havent tried 700 or 710 in them.

lol, mine dripped at first and then quit. it works fine with the 700 so far. idk if mine is zep, its just some thing the wife had. the jug is fairly thick plastic for what it is.

Thanks for speaking up but, I made a typo when I asked that question. I meant to say SPI 700. Haven't found a spray-able bottle/container yet that will not fail using 700.
Yes..store it in the zep sprayer..It does drip now and then but never failed to spray

Thoughts on the iwata sprayer? Pricey yes but they claim works with water base and solvents. Is there such a thing?

ZEP makes a chemical resistant sprayer:

And then they have the 'professional sprayer' which is what I use. I use one for 700, one for 710, and a really big one for water. I pay a whopping $3.50 for them at my Menards.

Yes, it is a good sprayer. Akzo markets the same thing. Neither market a pressurized carbon steel unit like shown earlier in this thread for a reason--they are hand held grenades when they fail at 80-150 psi and have no $4 ASME/National Board pressure relief valve on them. Sure Shot makes a made in USA aluminum one for waterborne solvents for about $100. Not a fan of any typical squeeze spray containers. Too low a output volume to get the product on in a unless you only are painting a few square feet. I just use my gun and a 0.8mm fluid tip and a lower air flow cap.

True, could get away with a $10 spray gun. Sometimes I over look the obvious. It’s nice not being attached to a hose for everything but not a huge deal for w/g remover I guess.

I already have "The Purple Gun" so I will run an experiment with it today. Thanks for the tip. Someone else made the same recommendation so it's worth a shot.

I'm with Lizer Rbm & AAE with the Zep. Sprayer has had 700 in it since 3-2018 and no problems at all.

the usc sprayer wont work for 700. it works great for 710. for 700 you need an acetone sprayer. viton doesnt work for acetone. it eventually swells it. just google acetone sprayer. they are cheap and you can keep 700 in them without issue and they are not expensive.
I have the same USC sprayer in the picture and have had 700 in it for about 5 years or more, works fine.

My plain old Zep sprayers don't last more than a couple years because we use them hard, but the 700 doesn't seem to be a problem for them. Maybe one of the previous formulas was a little harder on them than what we get today, but that was so long ago now.

i have 4 of them and after a long period of time the 700 will slightly swell the orings in them making them really tight to the point you almost cant pump them.

I am reporting back on the ZEP Commercial Professional Sprayer; the cheap plastic HD/Lowes variety.

I got this one from my mom who used it, for several years, to spray vinegar and water. I sprayed 1 Gal of "Big box store" acetone, 2 Gal of solvent-based W&G (not 710), and about 4-5 Oz of 710. No issues.

I put 700 in it and after about 20-30 trigger pulls the trigger would only return halfway. The bottle continued to spray, albeit less effectively, as long as I manually returned the trigger to the normal resting position. I'm guessing something other than acetone is the culprit. I'm going to try the ZEP chemical resistant bottle for 700.

I'll report back.

yes this is my finding as well. it swells those orings super slowly making things tight. after an extremely long time, say months, the pump sprayers almost lock up. i empty them out at that point, let them dry out for a week or two and they return back....almost.

I have, or should I say, had, a Red metal SureShot sprayer. The ones that are filled with compressed air.

Anyway, it was going to be my dedicated SPI 700 sprayer. Leaving 700 in the SureShot, it took about a year before the 700 attacked the welds on the can. It ate the welds from the inside out causing the can to leak.

700 cleans metal like no other.
