Single stage questions

Current technology single stage paint - does the clear float to the top when sprayed or does it remain as part of the homogeneous mixture?

Does adding additional clear to a single stage paint thin out the color build and give it more depth of color, or does it float to the top and form a clear film?

When color sanded, does it first generate a white sludge, then turn to a colored sludge?

I am just curious to the truth of the matter, Barry?

I'll add my two cents, Barry can correct me if I'm wrong. I've been told there's always some pigment settling while wet so the surface is a little more durable but I've never sanded SS and not seen color in the sludge. Adding clear does add depth but also requires more coats for coverage, also adds what I call glow in direct light to lighter solid colors. JMO

I'm sure there is some settling but with the dispersant it should be Unnoticeable, if any.
Of course piling and real low air pressure you could make this happen, I'm sure.

Adding clear will weaken the hiding of the color but here again it should remain dispersed if sprayed right away, although clear does not have a dispersant in it so the color can separate faster.
