Sick of crappy quick connects

It's time I upgrade my air fittings with some free flowing non leaking quick connects. I'm sick of buying the same junk only to have them leak after a few uses. And I've noticed a signifigant improvement by direct connecting the air line to the tool which tells me I'm loosing a lot of flow/pressure though the junk fittings.

So where / what is the best fittings to get for flow and reliablilty? I've done searching on this before on other sites and frankly didn't trust what I was reading enough to "try" them out.

Any help would be appreciated.

I put in some of the prevost high flow fitting's in our paint booth and been happy with way they are holding up. I have also used these at a shop where I worked before and they hold up well. I think they are roughly $20.00 each. Joe

Parker RF series qc's are great too, price range $18 or so for a coupler, $2.75 for a nipple. We used a lot of them when I worked at the aluminium rolling plant.

I don't know whats wrong with me but on an impluse I got a Kobalt 3/8" quick connect fitting and connectors from Lowes, we'll see how that goes. It really wasn't the money, I just am impatient sometimes. My current fittings were almost usless so I needed something quick. After looking at them, why anyone would use 1/4" ? (Which is all I've ever used)

It has been my experience with leaking couplers the rubber gasket is worn out. Either from always having a nipple in it , or from the wear and tear of multiple insertions. A simple wipe with a clean cloth, rag, towe, shirt sleeve, or what ever to make sure there is not grit on the nipple will extend the couplers life.
The other failure is " its difficult" to pull the sleeve. A drop of air tool lube into the barrel, then rotated for a few seconds will go miles in extending the life of the coupler.
(I worked 30 years as a millwright at a rolling mill)

I suggested this proven fact on HR and one of the 'big guys' got all over me that I was stupid to ever put oil on a coupler or it would ruin a paint job. I then asked him if he ever put oil in his air tools. He said of course. Well how did you get it in there - must have been thru the nipple?

Personally I do not use any hose that has been used for anything other than painting to paint with, they are rolled up and put away until next time. I guess I am wastefull by spending $50 for a spray only hose :(

sorry for the bit of ranting
