Sanding in a curve.

Not sanding around a curve, but sanding in a curve.
What do you sand with? A block want work.

I use a round Dura-Block (Dura-Block Af4404 Tubular 1-1/2 X 11). Amazon sells them for less than $8.

I agree with Bob, learned through trial and error. If it is a small curve, buy a piece of dowel rod to the correct dimension.

I bought a radius/contour tool and made blocks out of 2 inch solid foam insulation to fit some of the 'inner' curves on my 58 GMC fenders, and using spray adhesive glued my sand paper to them. Worked great.

I got this 3M pad that I was told a could rap da paper around it, but I don't have any da paper the grit I need. I hope I can wet sand with it. The sides of my motorcycle tank are kind of like cereal bowls. Right now I need to remove some running on the primer sealer.

Are you perfecting the shape or just refining the surface? Some tools are designed to follow a contour while others are designed to shape.

I should have had the 3m sanding pad earlier to smooth out the sides of the tank before spraying the epoxy sealer. I'm wondering if I should wet sand just the runs are sand down back to the 2k and smooth it out and respray epoxy sealer. Maybe I should just wet sand the whole tank and do one last coat of epoxy sealer.

Sand the whole tank and spray it again with epoxy. Motorcycle tanks are small-shouldn't take long.

I have two of everything that Dura block sells one of every K block and afs and some times none of them fit! one thing that is fast cheap and easy is to tape some masking plastic to the surface and get some of the cheapest filler you can find Im talking junk you would never put on a project and then use playdough as a dam and fill the dam full let it harden and remove it and the plastic from the piece. then you have a block that is perfectly shaped for what you are doing, you can decide if you want to kill the sharp edges or leave them you can quickly make a custom block as mild or aggressive as you want. Think of this the next time you get a run in a fender flair or in a door jam.

Hey thanks Bob, should be a quick job. Pat that's a good idea, thank you. I will add that to my list of next times, number 407. :highly_amused:
