Sanded basecoat, re-coat window

Guys I am going to have re-spray my door due to issue with the basecoat I sprayed. This is a metalic and pretty sure spraying additional basecoat after wet sanding will change the color. I plan to wet sand with 600 then spray a sealer and spray my basecoat. My question is can the basecoat be sanded and then apply the sealer a couple of days later?

If you are recoating base with more base there is no real need to seal it again unless you sanded through in spots (hopefully not). Being it's a metallic depending on what grit you used you may have to. What grit did you sand the base with? 800 wet would be the coarsest you could use and not have the sanding scratches show through. If you sanded with something coarser then seal it, if not simply wipe it down with a solvent W&G remover after sanding and proceed. No real re-coat window for what you are asking.

Did you activate your base?

Chris I haven’t done anything yet. I didn’t activate the base. I would feel a lot better sealing it as I don’t want to chance having the color off.
The weather temps are all over the map and won’t be above 60 for a couple of days. I was just trying to get it ready for sealing and painting.

What exactly is the issue? Maybe if I know that I can advise how best to proceed, or how I would proceed.

When I sprayed my seal coat (epoxy) I thought I saw a flat/ dry finish in the middle of the door but could only see it in certain lighting conditions. Well after spraying my base I see the same thing in the exact area .
