well yesterday was an event not to redo . drove 100 miles to pick up another 55 ford truck. junk but has a title . started back and my truck has a huge bubble on the right front tire. so it was 30 mph on the shoulder all the way home . god i love rumble strips . but what the hell i made it home .
fast forward to this morning . went to transfer the title only to find someone else has a bonded title on the vin . i have the truck , i have the original title . BUT the latest title trumps my original . then i find out i have to do a bonded title ..... on the same friggin vin # . yes they issue multiple titles on a vin but it cost 400 bucks . what the hell good is a title now ? just my morning rant .

#1 transfer your title as soon as possible.
#2 if they have a title and it's not in their name it's a gamble
#3 if not in their name do a vin check .
last and most important SCREW THE DMV !

Wow, that's crazy. Great cautionary tale for everyone. I bought a truck a few years back and the title was not in the guy's name. I bought it anyway but I guess I got lucky. I guess we have to do a Carfax right on the spot with a cell phone if there is any question.

bonded title . they likely sent a form to the previous owner who threw it in the trash . crazy ass law here .

Did you try contacting the guy who has the bonded title?
I am wondering if he "borrowed" the VIN, from what he that was a junk vehicle, for his own project vehicle?

no , but he definitely used the vin off this truck . or the number got mixed up . either way i'm out 400 bucks for a damn bonded title .

Any idea how this could happen? How does a VIN from one vehicle end up on another? Seems fraudulent to me.
it makes no difference. they will issue multiple titles to the same vin . dumbest shit i've ever ran into. no way the other person has a vin number on his truck. i have the truck with the vin . hopefully i can salvage enough parts to cover my investment . i'll never buy another one unless the owner has a title in their name .

You collision guys know vins or id tags or stamps are in more places then dash.
I saved a friend buying a "cherry" 928 with different vin on front frame I spotted.

Bonded I never heard of till now..

In a perfect world, being able to get a bonded title can save some headaches trying to register a vehicle when the title has been lost. This is a common occurence. But bad people always abuse loopholes like this. "They are why we can't have anything nice."

Sorry to hear of your troubles Shine. Now I feel the need to make a trip to the DMV and title my 78 Chevy truck that I've had for 5 years.

i transfer titles as soon as i buy one. never knew this could happen. still not sure how he could title a truck with different vin.

Last car I bought was from a parts dealer. He said he had lost the title. Once I had the cash in hand, I said let’s look for the title first. He pulled out a shoebox full of titles and found it in lest than a minute. I’m sure he probably sold titles. Trust no one.

i've found out titles mean diddly shit in texas. i can just copy the number off a truck and file for a title . if the title is not transfered in 3 years my bonded title becomes the blue title even though i dont have the vin number on my truck .
