I am putting a roof skin on a 69 Camaro. Is there an alterative to replacing the original reveal molding studs with replacement screws? The replacement screws are likely stainless steel could they be tacked on the back side ? What's the best way to go.? Thanks.

Thanks Crash,. I have a stud welder. Do you know a place to start looking? I don't think the company that made mine is still around,.

I believe there are special pop rivets that are shouldered with a small dia head for the same thing. Dont think I'd use them on anything high end, but in a pinch?

Here is a source for the rivet studs and the tip that works with them . I have the Stinger Plus and these work quite well with it.

The stud gun works good for this but there are also screw in studs available

Keep in mind though that this can be a hot spot for corrosion to start, if you use the screw in studs make sure to spot blast them after install and coat well with epoxy, if you can coat the backside with something that is also a good idea regardless if you use the weld on or screw in studs

I think there may be a problem using the stud welder in this area. I won't be able to position the stud welder in that narrow of an area. Thanks for all the help.

I was able to put studs on the windshield opening of a 70 Camaro. I used the rivet tip and cut the sides of the outer cup to just 2 legs no wider than the tip diameter. I see they sell a similar cup now
