remove old bondo?

i just got some sand blasted harley tins that im going to paint that exposed some bondo work, so they blasted around the bondowork. i should probably remove the old bondo and start from bare metal correct?

could it be possible to have microscopic sand particles get lodged into the filler? i would remove it. little more work in your case but worth it down the road

Definately remove it and start with clean bare steel, then epoxy, then filler as needed.

Why chance it coming back to haunt you? At the end of the day it's your name on the line.

Definitly remove old filler. Almost every time I've had that happen it covered damage that could have been fixed a whole lot better. Stock from factory HD tin has no filler.
Tank dents are notorious for not being fixed and filled with rediculous amounts of filler.
Some after market tanks, especially ones with extentions welded on need filler.

And some of the aftermarket tanks are not symmetrical, one side will be shaped differently than the other, makes for some grief when masking for artwork. I've also had them leak when new!

For that reason, I test all tanks new or old and deal with any leaks or inside tank issues after they are stipped of all paint/filler. I've seen leak issues, mostly with solid mounts, because the tabs were out of place and stressed when bolted down. Then there are the shit welds....It goes on.
Can't always control what some "fabricators" do ;).
