Hey all,
On behalf of my son, my wife and myself I'd like to publically acknowledge a fellow SPI forum member, Chad.S (the Pro Spray Guru) for helping out my son in his efforts to continue building items for charity auctions. I hope Chad will not be mad as we did not ask him if he would mind the recognition of his selfless act. Let me give you the back story.
I taught my 14 year old son (15 now) body and paint basics last year and he had painted some skate boards, mini bike etc.. I have posted some of his work here in the past. He is a Junior in the Volunteer Fire Dept. and to raise money for them he designed, built, and custom painted a longboard to be raffled at a FD fundraiser. He used all his own money for the materials, wheels, trucks and paint (he did "borrow" some paint I bought for my 68 Pontiac project). It went over very well (raised over $600 for the FD). He decided he was going to continue his fundraising by building another custom board to be raffled off at this springs 5th Annual Relay for Life (American Cancer Society event) that my wife (herself a survivor) helps to head up at the College she works for.
As everyone knows professional quality paint is so expensive (especially for a kid who just started his first real job as a stockboy in town) and we talked about seeing if we could get some businesses to donate some materials (easier said than done by the way). We sent Chad a private message as I knew he was involved with Pro Spray to see if he could donate a pint or two of basecolor. To our surprise a huge box showed up at the front door yesterday with literally gallons of assorted colors. Chad would not let us even reimburse him for shipping costs. I have never bought anything from Chad in the past and unless he recalled seeing some of my posts on the forum he didn't know us from Adam. These paints will take my son through many charity projects. He's already stripping down a 3/4 size Strat style guitar (that he bought a few years ago) to prepare for paint for this year's FD raffle.
Chad, thanks for helping our family see, first hand, that there are still complete strangers who are willing to help others just for the asking.
