Protecting the back side of a patch panel

I have a small patch on my Mustang fender that I will be welding in shortly (3 x 5") I have cleaned all the rust from the reinforcement that is now exposed behind it. I plan to spray a couple coats of epoxy on the exposed reinforcement before welding and on the backside of the patch, then grind off the edges to weld to.

My question is, since I will not have access to the backside once the weld is complete is there a way to protect the weld seams on the back. I thought about pouring some epoxy into the drain hole and letting it drip onto the repaired area but that seems like a crap shoot.

What do others do on patches that they can't get to once welded in place?

I usually do my best to do whatever I can to get epoxy in there, sometimes a challenge

I have a undercoat gun with a wand i will fill with epoxy and spray all over, usually runs out and makes a mess of my floor

Also dont forget to use some weld thru primer on those places you grind.. This will give you extra insurance in my opinion

I would get some epoxy on the inside of the welded area somehow. You can take the fender off and pour some on the areas where you have access and then tilt it until it runs into the welded area.
