Protectant for fresh paint recommendation

Just painted my truck so fresh universal clear coat. I will be driving it before it is safe to put a good protectant on it. spec sheet states
"Use only a pure carnauba wax or a fresh paint safe hand glaze. Only after 90 days of sunlight can a traditional wax be used. "
I really just want something to keep the bugs an grime from sticking between washes during that 90 day time. I have Lucas Slick Mist and have looked at 3M 05990 hand glaze. Any recommendations? I may be over thinking it.....

Well I don’t think anything guarantees no stick. But it will certainly make them wash of much easier if they do. My understanding is what you said above…Carnauba and glazes. I’ve been meaning to verify if montan wax is safe as I have some 3D montan wax. I also use there 505 glaze which cuts more than Speed and finishes down great and contains montan wax to offer protection. It’s in their body shop safe line up which is what makes me wonder if montan wax is ok.

Are you planning to sand and buff it? If you sand and buff later on, you wouldn't have to worry about light scratches from cleaning soft clear and you will have allowed your paint job to fully cure and shrink before going through all that work.

90 days of sunlight is the equivalent of 9 months or longer inside so keep that in mind. I would never use any type of wax prior to that. Done to soon you can kill the paint. A good detail spray like Wizards or similar would be all I would use. You can use anything that says "Body Shop Safe" meaning no silicones or polymers.

I am in the process of sanding and buffing now before I reassemble. Should be done soon and will be a daily driver immediately after

Got it. Thanks. I may not use anything. I was just thinking something to make regular washes easier

Check out Mequiars M305 'Ultra Finishing Durable Glaze'.....'wipe on, wipe off, silicone-free, high gloss, breathable, paintable (what?), body shop safe'. Mequiars site says it "allows your freshly painted surface to cure naturally. Can be applied immediately after paint is dry!".

I have used it with success a few times but only after the paint had been in the sun a bit, wet sanded and buffed. Would never apply it "immediately after paint is dry!". And not sure what they mean by this glaze being 'paintable'. Very similar to the former 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, now sold just as 'Hand Glaze', which 3M states will "help condition new paint jobs". Also silicone-free and body shop safe.

Not sure how much protection they provide and they do wash off easily but still better than nothing (after a cut and buff).
