What size hole is recommended for plug welding sheetmetal to frame supports, crossmembers, brackets, etc.? What about sheetmetal to sheetmetal ?

I use letter A (.234) for everything, and use the welder heat control to adjust to the thicker metals. I normally run the machine on the hot side for better weld penetration, so the smaller hole works fine with the higher heat.
