Painting hood and deck lid while hanging

I have these hanging to paint. Does it matter the direction I paint it? It is hanging rear up and nose down. It is easier to paint side to side but that is the opposite direction that you would paint the tops of the fenders. It "feels" like that would be a bad idea and I should paint the items top to bottom.

Spray from bottom-to-top as they hang. Especially with primer and sealer. The overspray has a wet bed to fall into VS top-to-bottom overspray landing on the panel below first, causing nasty texture because the overspray drys before it can melt into the actual coat.

Paint it the same direction as you would if the car was all together. You dont want to paint panels in opposite directions. If you are using metallic, its even more critical.

Every time I have painted the exterior of a hood while hanging, it has been re-shot, or at least re-cleared while horizontal. Usually what we do is seal the whole thing hanging up, maybe base the whole thing, but then only clear the underside. The topside gets painted later, by itself horizontally, or on the vehicle horizontally.

Oh, and I turn the cap 90° and paint hanging hoods and deck lids in an up and down motion, lol.

Might do that since I will need to install them on the car to layout the stripes anyway. One less step taking them back off again

Why can't you paint the hood horizontally, on a paint stand?

I use some trusty old wooden saw horses for the hood. Did a decent job on one hanging one of my first ones, the common sense in you tells you that if you hang it there wont be any dust falling on it, but it fell instead when I tried to spin it around.
