Painting Ford Van Dog House

I was wondering if anyone had any experience painting Ford doghouses? I'm assuming the material isn't plastic due to the fact that its seeing high temperatures but the surface is very slick. I'm wary of putting paint on it as I'm pretty sure it won't last long before flaking.

Steve, can you post a picture?? I'm thinking the Slang "dog House" is confusing people, as it did me and that is why I asked you to post, as I had no clue what part of the truck that is.
Kinda like "bird cage" with a corvette, people will look at you cross-eyed, unless they have worked on one.

The "dog house" is the motor cover inside the van. I would prep it like anything else and spray it with epoxy to start. I had one that was fiberglass and just treated it like normal fiberglass.

Above is a picture of one. Dub was on the money. And for those of you not in the know consider yourselves lucky I suppose. If the dog house has to come out you're in for a fun time.

Appreciate the response I was just worried it wouldn't adhere very well.
