Paint shakers

How well do the air driven Dedoes Cyclone and Astro knockoff work? The Z-Chrome Rust Defender poly primer I use settles like concrete in the bottom of the can. I have to use a pry bar to stir it. Is the shaking strong enough to break it up?

Thanks,
Don

ordered a cyclone, returned it, never worked. any air mixer is going to lock up if you dont lubricate it alot. I found an old 2 gallon antique belt driven paint shaker on craigslist for 60 bucks. Best find ever.

So the z chrome is about double the price as the evercoat stuff. What is the difference and why do you use it? Just curious, everyone has their preferences.

Friend of mine gave me a air paint shaker that came from HF. Has an oiler right at the air feed with a cheater valve to adjust the speed. It works but needs to be mounted down to something very solid or it will shake a bench with it. I clamped it to the steel welding table (1000+lb) but that's a PIA so I don't use it often. To make it convenient I would need to fabricate a steel pedestal and bolt it to the floor and also run a air line to it. Don't paint that much anymore so that didn't get done.
All that said, if the material settles that bad I would still use a stick to loosen the material prior to using the shaker.

It’s all I have used for many years. I like how it sprays and sands. It doesn’t shrink. It’s one of those if it ain’t broke don’t fix it things. Don’t want to risk spraying something that sands like concrete.

i have the hf air paint shaker. i use it pretty much every day for maybe 15 years. i shake every can that comes out of the storage room before it goes on the mixing rack. it works great. as mentioned it needs to be mounted down to something solid. i couldnt imagine not having it.

I also have also had a hf shaker for over 20 years, but I don't use epoxy until all the metal work is done on the complete car, so the shaker doesn't get used much.

I have a HF one, maybe 10 years old. Its been beat up for sure. I have to kick it to get it to start, lol. I had to replace the small air line on it once.

I have the HF shaker mounted to a 2" hitch vise mount. Put a receiver on a 2x12 shelf on the outside of the garage. Works great because the shelf only holds up hurricane shutters that are bolted to the wall. Whatever you mount it to better have ererything bolted down

Same here H F paint shaker bolted down to my paint bench with rubber washers and bench bolted to wall. Working for 6 years almost every day.

This is the first one I bought, plugged it in and it did not even work. Did not ask for a replacement, just expected it to crap out if I got one that worked.

This was how my first three looked, then I got an oiler to put at the air line on the fourth one I bought. I can still use it to shake quarts since the big one is just set for gallons.

I've had it for almost 15 years. The upright bars did keep breaking at the screw from the violent shaking. So, I had a good welder fix that. No issues since.
