Paint Chip/Scrap

I didn't know where to post this so I figured I'd stick here since I read the storage post.
I had my fender extensions stored in cotton pillow cases and was pulling one out from below a shelf when a piece of a-pillar trim fell on it....I had to walk away for 2 days after that one.
The chip/scrap is about the size of a match head right below where the head light trim would be.
I'm wondering if anyone has had something similar happen and how to proceed?
I thought about hitting it gently with 1000 grit just in that area, mixing a small amount of base and dabbing/brushing/dripping it on. Sanding it lightly with 1000 and doing the same with a small amount of clear and then finish cutting it.... Or would it be best to blend it and reshoot a few coats of clear...
I think I know the answer but wanted to ask some people with a lot more experiance than me. Added a couple pics.

Thanks
John

With it so close to the headlight will it get covered up by a bezel or trim? If not, you can take a brush a dab in some base, let that dry and dab in some more. Do that a few times to help build up the chip about halfway. Then dab in clear a few times and try to get it so it dries slightly raised like a run. Then lightly sand it flat and polish out your sanding.
If you’re not happy with how that looks then you can go more serious and blend in the color and reclear.

Thanks David.
I sanded the extension this afternoon with 800 and stayed away from the edges for now. I'll hit the edges with gray scotch brite tomorrow. The chip has a pretty good step in it so I blended the edge of it with 800 also. I'll unbox the new trim in the morning and see how much it will cover if any. I'll probably do what you mentioned about building it up a little with base, sand it lightly then blend the base and reshoot clear.

Thanks again
