Opened 6 years ago- still good?

I've got a half gallon each of SPI epoxy primer and activator that were opened 6 years ago, used then stored in a basement. They've never been frozen. Question is if I open them and they look good will they still be good? Maybe try on some scrap metal? Or should I just trash them? Hate to waste it if still good. Any advice? Thanks

The epoxy part is good as long as you can stir up the pigments on the bottom, that is the only thing that can go wrong.

The activator is toast or very weak at best and should be replaced.

How long is too long for the activator, Barry? I am worried about mine now. I brought it with all good intentions about 2 years ago but life got in the way.

I'm real close to using it now, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Which is much sooner than it will take to get some new stuff shipped over by boat from the USA. Is there anything else I could buy locally to supplement it if it is no longer any good or should I just buy some more and delay what I am doing until it arrives?

I if opened, three years has never been a problem except twice.
UN-opened, don't worry about it.

Ah great, what a relief!

No, never opened. Everything is still untouched. All I've done is flip the cans every so often.

Thanks Barry... I'll check it out and will be ordering some activator soon!
