Open time

Is there a maximum open time for 2K and high build primer to recoat or, apply epoxy as a sealer? Do you need to scuff it if it has sat for a week or two or simply clean and shoot?

No, you can't just shoot over it. I'm curious why you would want to do that anyway, the point of 2K is to build up for blocking and straightening. It's not doing it's job if you don't sand it down.

Sorry to have misled, crashtech... not enough info supplied. The car has 3 coats of high build blocked between coats followed by a reduced coat blocked with 600/ 800. Barely broke through to epoxy on final block with 800 in some areas. Near perfect and, laser straight... I have had to let it set for a week because other things interrupted. I solvent cleaned it then cleaned it again with waterborne last night. It is ready to shoot this AM. I think I will scotchbrite it, clean it again with waterborne cleaner, then shoot my SPI epoxy mixed 1:1:1, let it flash 30-45 minutes, then shoot my base coat. Shoot clear tomorrow

I apologize for jumping to conclusions. I agree with Bob, as a matter of fact, you are probably overkill on the cleanliness!

No need to apologize, crashtech. I did not supply enough info. My error...

I will shoot clear tomorrow. More interference today
