Old epoxy and 2k (prepping my order)

I have a stalled project car that's been in my garage for about 9 years. It has a coat of epoxy primer on it and some filler/slicksand. Can I just scuff the entire car with say 180 or 220 and apply the spi 2k over that? I have little time to work on the car...so meeting any respray windows with the car are probably out the door for me. I only ask because the tds for the spi epoxy says you must re apply epoxy over epoxy that has gone past it's re shoot window. Does this rule apply to all epoxy primer? Would like to just use 2k or 2k high build if possible. Assume I will burn through some of my current epoxy when I sand. Is the spi ok with dtm? Rookie painter so I apologize for any obvious questions.

Being that your epoxy is that old you need to go over it with 180 and spray 2 more coats of epoxy. Then wait 24 hours then spray your 2K urethane primer. You won't have full adhesion if you spray 2K over the old epoxy because the epoxy is fully cured and you are relying on mechanical bond alone. Not the best idea. So re-epoxy.

Is the spi ok with dtm?
What SPI? Epoxy or something else? If by DTM you mean acid etch primer then no it is not compatible.

The normal build spi 2k or maybe the turbo 2k. It's not important I guess as it seems I must do epoxy anyway. Appreciate the advice.

If it has polyester primer on it, that should be blocked way down, there is no sense leaving that much build in the substrate. If it has spent 9 years in primer, I would be concerned that it has picked up contamination or even allowed some corrosion to form on the metal underneath. If something like this was brought to my shop we would simply strip it and start over.
