Here's one where I got to put filler across both doors
to get a straight body line, then cut the gap with a saw blade.
How many of you do this? It works real good.
(I do love my stud welder)

That way is fine JC. Never tried it like that. I would prob just opened the door and wiped. Might try it though. Did you use a hacksaw blade?

Like that work, what kind of stud welder is it? the studs look fatter than what I remember using back in the day. using 2k primer too? like seeing how other garage guys are doing it.

My stud welder is a Harbor Freight one, guess I got a good one,
so I'm probably lucky considering all the bad ones I've heard of.
I've had it a few yrs now.
I use the 2nd larger studs now, I use to use the smallest but seem to
get less holes with the next size up.

I cut the filler gap with a cut-off disc, seemed to not break the filler
as easily as a hack saw, once cut, I opened the door and sanded to the
door edge. I was laughing as I did it, but it actually works better that trying
to get filler up to the edge.
Trying new things is what keeps it interesting.

I use a lot of 2K, I put way more on than recommended but I sand most off and
let it age a couple days so I get away with it.
2K does shrink, so I do have to allow more time for it to age
I like to wait a week on my own car.
I like to sand it first with 150 grit, then 400.
It comes out much straighter when I do it that way but it does take a lot of primer.
Sometimes a second spraying for the breakthroughs.

Good idea with the filler Jim. Wouldn't the Turbo be a better choice for you? Just asking, I haven't tried Turbo but other than 2x the cost of the regular it looks like a winner.

I thought I was probably the only hack that put filler across gaps, lol.
I havent' tried cutting it with an abrasive disc though, I just use a hack saw blade hand held, backwards so it cuts on the push stroke.
Going to use the cut off wheel next time, sounds like a lot easier :)

Haven't tried it, you may be right.

i do this all the time, use my die grinder with cut off wheel,Grinder with 24 grit on edge,or you can wait till it just starts to set and cut it with a knife, ect.

nice work!!!

Travis

I wait until it just firms up and use a razor blade...it usually comes out so clean that if I could paint right over the filler I wouldn't even need to sand :) I really like the cutting wheel idea, never thought of that, seems like it would work well.
