New 3" Buffer

Hi Guys, I'm looking to buy a new 3" buffer. Any recommendations? I'm thinking probably a Dynabrade, but didn't know if you guys have a particular model you like.

if you dont mind spending the money this one is hands down the best 3" buffer you can buy. it will last forever and has so much torque you can barely stop it. i bit the bullet a long time ago and bought it. one of the best tools i own. use it all the time. i have used many other small air buffers, even other model dynabrades and none even come close.

Jim,
The specs say max airflow 24 scfm. I only have 18 cfm on my 80 gallon compressor. Do you think it will still operate properly?

yeah i think you'll be ok. my compressor is 28 cfm and for the amt of off time it has i would estimate i could run 2 of these.

Flex just came out with an electric 1-3 inch rotary buffer for around $200. I think it's called a PE8.

Shine, do have/use the extension for the small pads?
I am reading the PE14 will use the 3" pads but many suggest using the extension.

no . i use the 4 in pads. i have 3 in but need a disc for them. my air buffer is just a pia. it is just an angle grinder so it is hard to regulate speed.

That Dynabrade looks like one serious buffer. I broke mine recently, I may have to break down and buy another.

the one i have which i posted above will be the last mini sized buffer you ever buy. its got so much torque you can barely stop it. its lightweight and built like a rock. its probably the best quality air tool i have ever bought.

I will need to seriously look at all these options. Right now I am using a dinosaur (in size and weight) 7" rotary that wears me out and is all but impossible to handle with one hand while doing smaller parts that need to be held in place. Trying to buff the HD side covers and lower fairings was a nightmare.

haha you dont have to tell me. i use a makita buffer and every bike part i have ever painted has been buffed holding that with one hand. my right arm is bigger than my left i think...lol

I've had the 10390 for probably 4years and It's great. Wouldn't trade it for anything as it's light and more controllabe than the pistol grip style I replaced.

Brad,
What psi do you find works best with this sander? My compressor is only 15 cfm @ 100 psi and the specs for this sander that I read said 18 cfm.

My regulator at the compressor is set at 100psi so it's probably around 90 at the wall. Never experimented with pressures, it's always set at 100. Nice tool, I gave away my cp pistol style after I used the new one. I knew I'd never use it again and I'm not one to have a bunch of inferior tools in a drawer just because.
