Marson Platinum Plus Filler

J

JCB

I have been using Marson P/P filler and it works good for me. I need to order some more and am wondering if it is the same formula since 3M has bought the co.

Thanks, Jim

I havent noticed any difference since they've bought it. Could possibly change down the road but right now it seems to be the same as before. Been using it for years back when it was under $20 a gallon.

I switched from Rage Gold to Marson Platinum Plus for two reasons. 1.) I got to try it while taking a class at the local body shop and really liked it. 2.) It was less money than the Rage (though it is great stuff).

Thanks Jeremy, I'll pick up a gallon. It's $36 now

Where do you get a gallon at? Around these parts 3qts is the largest quanity I have found. Still in the gallon can though, just another way to raise the price I thinks.

I've always liked the regular Platinum, myself. Tried the Platinum Plus thinking it must be better, but to me it wasn't...

yep. the regular is the best.

I thought i read on here one time, JimC maybe said it, that the plus will hold up to powdercoat?

That got me thinking so I went and checked - yep it is the regular Platinum that I have. Ooops.

Just realised the OP is talking about the plus. LOL. i've used the plus once and didn't really seem too fond of it. Back to the regular platinum.

SOF you are probably right. There is probably only 3 qts in a gallon can although they price it out as being a gallon. That seems the way things are going these days. Less product, more money.

LOL, Most of the filler manufacturer's did this volume reduction thing a few years back, at least on their premium lines. 3 quarts in a 1 gallon can-what a marketing idea! When Evercoat was questioned they said that all the fillers are sold by weight now not volume. I know all the gallon sized cans were labeled as 1 US gallon years ago. 10ish years ago I remember I was paying $21 for a Gallon of Rage Gold, now I think it's $45ish for three quarts...

Dam it, was hoping there were still full gallon cans being sold.

I do like the regular platinum better as well but it is much harder to find than the +. The + is the only filler that i know of that can be powdercoated over. All the others gas out and wont hold up to the heat.

I order mine from Auto Body Toolmart. They have both the regular and the plus.

You may want to check your local jobber as I found mine carries it for about the same price (when you add in shipping) and no wait.

Where I live there are only 2 ABS and they do not carry Marson only Evercoat and they charge premium prices. It is cheaper for me to buy online. Autobody toolmart charges $37 for regular and $39 for plus. I am only a hobbist so I don't use that much.
