what are you guys using in your paint area for lighting? I have flourescent tubes but they don't illuminate that well. I was thinking of getting those solartube skylights installed. Anyone thought of those? Four will light up 1200sqft.

We're switching to T8 fluorescent bulbs whenever a ballast goes bad. They seem to be a bit brighter, and also stay brighter over the life of the bulb, as well as using %20 less power.

I've installed a number of those in interior bathrooms. never gave it a thought for a paint booth. Let us know how they work if you try them !

I had a contractor look at it today and he said 4k for parts and labor. So? I may try putting a row of windows along one side of my garage to get natural light in. I was looking at some 30*50in. windows. I have a friend that sells industrial lighting and he can get me stuff at cost. I can get a lot of lights for 4k.

For $4000.00 you might be able to find a good deal on a used booth!

wont be doing much painting on overcast days. use 8 ft double fixtures with daylight bulbs. the more the better . also put one in each corner vertical. helps when shooting clear.

If I am not mistaken, 8ft T12 bulbs will not be manufactured after 2012 or so. Many companies have retrofitted their dual 8ft fixtures with quad T8 4ft fixtures.
