Kart Body - Epoxy as topcoat or SS Flat Black

I have a go kart that I need to paint. The guy would like the body to be a flat or matter black finish. Currently the body is bare fiberglass. I know before the introduction of the new flat black SS some guys were painting their frames with the black epoxy and leaving it as that matte finish due to the chemical and abrasion resistance it had as well as the fact that it had UV protection.

Now comes out the SS flat black product. Looks great but I am wondering what is better suited to my project. Keep in mind these things get beat on pretty good and abrasion resistance is probably my biggest concern. Not to mention the the SS is much more $$ for something that will get run around the track and into walls.

What do you guys think is best suited for this application?

Well we all know that is the best option but...I have a tough time spending as much on paint on as the entire body cost. So I am really looking for an application of just one product.

For this situation I would agree black epoxy will be fine & for repairs & respray as well. If it was something you wanted the ultimate protection on then epoxy & paint or bedliner if you are not worried about how it looks.

I agree, in this case, 2-3 coats of epoxy and you should be good for 2-5 years pretty easy.
