Hey guys im stoked as hell to have jsut sprayed my first coat of SPIs black base coat. As I was spraying it I almost couldnt believe my eyes how good it layed down, got all the way around my truck and as I went back to spray a small spot I missed in a channel along the top of the windshield my friggin air hose tapped the front fender and left a smudge ( then as I was looking closer I have a few runs on that fender also, Do I Fix these before I spray any more or do I finish my second coat then work on them??? This is my first time spraying an entire vehicle and ive never run into these problems before, im happy and mad at the same time. Other than my mess ups it turned out amazing so far...

Let the base cure up for about an hour then wetsand your runs out and rock on with the next coat.

I wrap the air hose over my shoulder to keep this from happening. Spray with one hand and hold the hose behind your back with the other.

thanks guys, I called barry last night, he said the same thing, I usually do keep the hose behind me but I was on the opposite side of my truck standing on a bucket so that I could reach the roofline above the windhield (ackward) just a stupid mistake, good news is I sprayed my second coat and the smudge from the hose is gone. I honestly think that If I were a little more consistant with my first coat of the SPI black it would have been enough to call it good. This stuff covers like crazy.

Then pics it is. 2012-09-12_16-02-47_943.jpg

Actually yea it was, I LOVE the 2000 series black. When I opened the gallon can It was like a mirror looking into it. I had (user error) I had a whoops and I bumped my air hose on the front passenger fender and I had some runs in the first base coat. After wet sanding most of the day i finally resprayed 2 coats of base and then shot 3 coats of clear just a little bit ago, ill post some pic in the morining. Turned out great.

Update heres some pics of it outside turned out great as far as im concerned, Im working on painting the doors and tailgate this weekend and wet sanding and buffingBB1.jpg

Not bad, your first attempt? The sanding and buffing will take some time but well worth it to remove any dirt or texture issues.

Yep, I took my third stall and set up a temp booth. Worked pretty well, I wasnt as careful with dust as I should have been, on my second coat of black I totally forgot to tack rag and had a little junk in there but not too bad. Im just getting the tailgate back on and assembled now and hopefully I can get most of it cut and buffed this afternoon.
