I'm looking for a new base coat gun and really can't make up my mind. I'm looking at a Iwata supernova with the gold cap or the Sata 4000 hvlp. I have heard really good things about both of these guns but i'm still not sure which way to go. I currently use a DeVilbiss GTi Millennium that I have been using the last few years and i have had pretty good luck with it; however, it is getting old. I use a supernova now for my clear and think it's great but I don't have anything to compare it to. I have never sprayed a Sata so I don't know anything about the guns. From what I can see it's kind of the the great Ford vs Chevy debate. I'm getting ready to spray a customers 1964 Biscayne and would like to get something before I spray it. What are your guys opinions on these guns? Has anyone sprayed with both? Also what size tip do you recommend spraying base with? I'm a small shop that does high end restorations. We do all the body and paint work in house but only do a few jobs a year so I would like to make sure I make the right choice. Thanks for any help.
