Iwata LPH-80 Mini Gun ???

Anyone have experience with this gun? Looking for something in between an airbrush and a full sized gun. I will be using it for more artwork type things in basecoat and candy, small motorcycle parts, and the like.

There are 2 versions, the 104 with a 1.0 nozzle and the 124 with a 1.2 nozzle. From what I have read they both use the same needle, you only have to buy the larger nozzle ($70) to go up a size. Is this true?

I have the LPH80-124G: 1.2mm E4 tip and PCG2B-1 250mL Alum. Cup and I absolutely love it! I've sprayed SPI bases and clears with good results.

Sorry, but I can't help with the nozzle question. I recommend that you talk to Hub over at the anest iwata forum. I'm pretty sure he will recommend the e4 cap.

I bought that gun a little while ago with the 1.0 but haven't used it yet and chose the E4. Let me know what you find out might be nice to have a choice.

i have had one for years. its a 1.0mm and i have both aircaps for it. i would recommend getting the 1.2mm and a wide fan cap. i cant remember which one is which. its a great gun. i also have 2 minijet 3000's. a 1.0 and a 1.2mm. for some reason i always go for the sata 1.2 over all the others. i prefer the satas for daily spraying of small parts. i goto the iwata if i want a little less overspray.

I got the version with the 1.0mm and the wide fan cap. I have used it a couple of times now and it works fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for.

I didn't know they have a 1.2 for them now. I have a pps version and a side cup version that have been with me for almost a decade. I have a .5 needle and tip for touchup that is handy.
I've always thought it needed more tip to spray clear on a bike tank. I end up using my full size gun on those because I thought the pattern was a little small.

Last week I ordered a new LHP80 with the 1.2 setup. Way more versatile than my 1.0. I had 5 porsche wheels to paint and I knew my 1.0 can't spray the single stage nice enough to paint them. That means using the big gun and hope their aren't any sags or runs because of so much overlapping. All five wheels came out great. It will also spray bike tanks and fenders that the 1.0 wouldn't. With the narrow pattern I couldn't keep the balance between wet and runs on the clear.

The 1.2 tip and cap is like $65, uses the same needle. It's nice to hear the 1.2 can lay a lot of material. If I find the 1.0 lacking I can easily move up a size.
