IWATA Kiwami4 or DeVilbiss FLG5 For SPI SS and Epoxy?

I need to get a spray gun with low air consumption. After calculating real-world numbers I've concluded that my compressor can produce about 9 CFM at 90 psi. It is a 60 gallon, 3 hp, 220 V, 2 piston, Northern Tool Northstar (rebranded Puma) compressor. After reading several threads here I've settled on either the Kiwami4 1.4 or the FLG5 1.4. This will be my first paint job ever and I will be spraying epoxy and most likely single-stage from SPI.

- The car is a VW Karmann Ghia convertible.
- I have a Titan/Vaper 2.0 HVLP for poly primer (the one Shine recommended).
- I would like to spray the entire car in one pass per coat if possible.
- I plan to keep the gun for a while and replacement parts may be needed eventually.

Given the conditions and parameters stated above, which gun would be the better choice for me?

Thanks,
Emil

After looking at each guns parts breakdown.
No question.
The Iwata. The latest upgraded version not the earlier version. Much better air flow .
The Devilbiss is a totally over engineered train wreck

I'm very interested in the Kiwami4. If I didn't already have all the guns I need, I would get one. Tempted anyway . . .

- Is the Kiwami similar to the LPH-400 in being suitable for a slower painting style?
- What is a good source to purchase the Kiwami in the US?

BTW, I've got basically the same air compressor as you with maybe a couple more cfm@90# if that so it will handle pretty much any 'thing. I pressure pot media blast with it and usually get low on air about the time the pot runs out so we both need a little recovery time anyway.
The first complete car I did with it,I was using a HF Purple hvlp running around 48-50# with a 1.4 spraying Chromabase Glamor Clear or something to that effect and never had a air issue at all.
I did switch to the bigger hvlp air connections later on which seemed to work better or at least imo they did.

The only places I can find the KIWAMI4-14BA4 online are either eBay, $160 - $190 without the cup from japan, or Amazon which sells it with the cup for over $300. Where are you getting your IWATA spray guns? Where can I get replacement parts and additional needle and nozzle sets?

eBay or Amazon are generally where they’re sold. They come from Japan. Theyre legit iwata. 160-180 is about right cupless. Up to you if your going to run disposable cups or a hard cup. You should be able to find a hard cup that fits pretty reasonable.
