Impressed with SPI products

As a new user of SPI products I just wanted to take a minute to mention how impressed I am with what I have used so far. I first used the epoxy primer on a 68 GTO rubber nose (I had read about how well it worked on these bumpers on Performance Years forums) and it worked great and I was impressed at how well it sanded after 24 hours. After finding this website and reading about the universal clear I decided to try it on a 73 Mustang project I was doing. I usually use ppg dcu 2002 on a job like this but the price is getting very expensive. After spraying the uv I am really impressed with this clear. I have been a die-hard ppg user for over 25 years but I must say this clear turned out as good or better than any of my ppg jobs I have done and the cost was almost half of what my jobber wanted for dcu 2002.
I also decided to try the spi sealer and production clear on some misc. race car parts this weekend. The sealer layed down really nice and the clear was great to spray also.
Will definitely be using more of there products in the future. All I need now is a jobber in my area( Central Pa) so I can get the products quicker!

I attached a couple of pics of the Mustang that I used the universal clear on

Nice looking Clydesdale :)

Welcome aboard the SPI Bandwagon.

The stang looks great and glad the SPI is working out for you, the 2002 PPG is their best clear and no slouch at that, so we do appreciate the compliments.

Out of curiosity what is the 2002 selling for these days.. I'm can't even remember if I ever even sprayed it.

Last I priced around here 2002 was about $450 for a gallon of clear and quart of harder and quart of reducer. Not sure what other areas are getting for it. I used to use the 2021 and 2002 all the time since my local jobbers are PPG and Dupont (not a big fan of anything dupont, except the Standox lines). I used the PPG products all the time, until I found SPI. In my personal opinion, the SPI clears are better than PPG in more than one way with price and ease of use being the top of the list. I am not degrading PPG clears, I feel they are some of the best on the market, but in my opinion SPI is a better product. I even like the SPI reducers better than PPG.

Yes $450 for the gallon of 2002/dcx61/dt reducer was about what I was quoted in November. My jobber said that PPG was having a price increase also but not sure when.

PPG is always having a price increase.. lol..
Doing a over all would get really expensive when you know you will need more than one kit to do a whole project.

Isn't that dcx61 used in a lot of their clears.. that number sounds familiar.. it's been a really long time though.

Yes dcx61 is very common with the concept line 2002/2021/2042. Along with dcx7/8 temps respectively. Shot plenty of it on repairable Harley parts. Good clear but can't touch uv Spi price or useability. IMO
