This has happened twice now. The first ime, I was using a small 20 gallon compressor at my grandpa's golf course and I figured it must have been moisture in the air hose or something like that. Last thursday, I sprayed some control arms and they were almost perfect, except for a few small runs on two of the edges (I should have left them alone, but I'm a perfectioist and just knowing that a run was somewhere on my pickup would bug me.). So I wet sanded the runs with some 80 grit sandpaper (used a bit of dish soap in the water), sanded all the other pieces, cleaned the control arms and other pieces with dish soap and then with Simple Green. I let them dry over night, then took them to my boss's shop to spray today. Cleaned all the pieces with 700 cleaner. This happened on most of the pieces. I use an old (older than me) Binks Model 7 for primer, and I'm sure I cleaned the gun properly before I sprayed. Pressure was around 25 psi at the regulator on the gun (60 at the regulator on the compressor).
Is my pressure too high? I used 23 psi at the gun last time and the primer flowed out beautifully.
Too heavy?
It seems to happen mostly on the front leaf spring shackle; no idea why.
Any advice?
