I think this was a good score

I went to my local Painters Supply for some stuff and found them selling this for $20.00. It has some rust on the legs but otherwise is brand new. I picked up another one a couple months ago with no rust for a couple more bucks. Between the two I have less than $50.00 invested. Parts stand.jpg

harbor freight has 500lb rated ones for $21
and 2oolb rated for $19
I have a bunch of them and they are actually pretty nice

Cool. I'll look into those if I need more. Thanks.

I have a 3/4" conduit bender ,use emt conduit. Makes great stands that don't rust for cheap. Check your local Craigslist, you should be able to find a bender for $5 or so. DO NOT get a hickey bender.

Those are GREAT stands. Don't confuse them with the other cheaply made (harbor freight) ones that do not have the formed foam/rubber pads. Everything about them is nice down to the length chains and hooks. The others have what looks like pvc foam "insulation" that deteriorates in no time. Not knocking the others though...many people use them and like them. Mine get used everyday all day and they stand up to the abuse.

I have 5-6 of these that are going on 8 years old now and the pads are still great as long as you take care of them in the paint booth. Honestly they aren't that much more expensive either...You can find them on the net for about $35 a piece. You got a great deal here. Keystone ran a sale on stands for 5 for $100. I was told they are the ones like pictured above and when they came in they were like the harbor freight. Sent them all back.

Just my 2 cents! :encouragement:

Since I'm just a hobbyist I'm sure these will outlive me. LOL. Thanks.

I go to pawn shops and can usually find good deals. I got a 3m 3 inch RO with vacuum for $60. Also, multiple iwata and sata guns. I also got a 1961 Gibson bass yesterday. I love pawn shops.

Thats a good idea.

Good pad material for the dyi version is Armaflex pipe insulation.

I have about 8 of those stands and mine look pretty rough. The pipe type insulation padding doesn't last long but I replace it with wraps of carpet padding wrapped in duct tape-cheap and it lasts for years. I extended one for use on large hoods so the support is more evenly distributed-I've seen many times where people damage hoods, doors, decklids... by not positioning them correctly on the stands even when padding was good.
