FAQ for DIAMONT DIAMONT BASECOAT

How long can the Diamont Base dry before it is required to apply clearcoat?
A) Eight hours, unless you are using BCH2 basecoat hardener, then you have up to twenty-four hours.

Diamont isnt supposed to have a recoat window at all. There is basically no time limit. Many people have told me this and there is no window listed in the tech manual. very rarely do i get clear on my projects within 24 hours. Most are a week or two. Longest i have let the base sit on something before clear was around 6mos. 8 years worth of projects and never had clear peel on a single one.

Where did that faq quote come from?

im with jim. ive had stuff 2-3 months. as long as its not activated base, u sh ould be fine. cant hurt to throw an over-reduced coat of intercoat clear on it before clear.

Figures they would have it on the website. there is no recoat window in the tech sheets for diamont. Maybe thats why its a faq,ha. In any case with years of using the stuff never had any ill effects from letting it sit for extreme amounts of time before clear.

Your experience would indicate that the 8 hours on the FAQs is for warranty reasons rather than product issues.
I had looked it up on their site because I couldn't find it on the tech sheet and saved the link. When I saw the original poster's question it was one time when I knew the "official" answer. LOL
