How long before SS or Base over Epoxy

SPI instructions discuss laying epoxy then high build and then using epoxy as sealer, waiting 2 hours then spraying your base coat. My method is slightly different and I'm not sure if I should follow same timelines. I am spraying 2 coats of SPI epoxy with the 30-45 minute flash. Then I'm going to single stage (PPG Omni MTK--90 degrees outside in shade). My panels are brand new, EDP coated, and the EDP has been tested with lacquer thinner. So how long do I need to wait after my second coat of epoxy before spraying my single stage? How long does my epoxy need to flash before spraying base coat over the epoxy? Is it 2 hours like when you're spraying epoxy over high build and going to base coat?

Not sure you want to spray anything over TWO coats of epoxy in a single go. Two coats and you're better off waiting overnight.

You also didn't mention how much reduction you will choose for the epoxy to be used as a sealer.

Myself I reduce around 35-40% and spray one single thin wet coat, let it set for 30mins and shoot basecoat or SS.

If I do 2 coats of epoxy I let it sit at least 2 days and then sand it. At 2 coats it's not a nice enough finish that I would want to spray anything as a final product on top of it.

I agree with Chad. Epoxy has its purpose and 2k build primer/surfacer has its purpose. Even when I use epoxy as a sealer reduced 50% I end up wet sanding with 600 before spraying.

This is just my opinion, but I think epoxy reduced at 50% should be flat enough to just nib and go. If it's not, I would argue that the spray technique or gun setup is causing it to go on too heavily.
