guitar players

due to health worries i have been in limbo for the last 2 years. unable to make any decisions or plans. now that that is handled it is time to move on. so i made the hardest decision first. i dont play anymore so i am selling my 1972 gibson SG standard . it deserves better than to stay under the bed. i've owned it since new but the desire is just not there anymore. so i'm offering it to my extended family on the internet . if you know a picker who would like a a vintage ax let me know. it's valued at 4500 - 6000. excellent shape . I had one just like it, same year, model, etc. except mine was a shade lighter in finish. Great guitar and I regret selling it but a man does what he has to do when he has to do it.

nice axe, can put the word out with some people I know and ask. Do you have it listed anywhere else? links etc? I could post it on my wall on social site...

just posted on a couple of sites. will not do egay or thieflist. letting friends and such have first shot before i try to sell it anywhere else.
loaned it out some years back and it came home missing a few parts. have them ordered so it will be complete.

That is pretty cool Shine. I never pictured you as the rock and roll type? I have a Fender acoustic and a Yamaha electric. Harbor Freight guitars compared to that!

Freaky deaky from the 70s huh? LOL! I have been playing for 35 plus years... Hope it finds a good home. Got as many guitars around here as paint guns..HA! TOO MANY... Did ya keep the buddy that borrowed parts from you???

he lived if thats what you mean. my fault for ever letting it out of my site. actually it was one of the wannabe roadies that did it i believe. new parts will be here this week i hope.

i've never understood some players. i just always tried to take care of mine. seen some guy just butcher their guitars with decals and shit like that . i even replace the pick guard screw today because they looked rusty.

When we lived in Australia, my wife missed her Guild 6-string. My first business trip back to the states, she asked me to buy her a guitar along with several hundred small items we couldn't find in Sydney. Australian customs expects you to declare and pay duty on a lot of stuff. When the customs guy saw the guitar, he asked if it was for personal use (no duty). When I blurted out that it was, he gave me a weird look. Apparently folks down under aren't used to seeing one-armed guitarists. All he said was "good on ya, mate" and didn't even ding me for the extra bottle of scotch.

Shine, good luck with the sale. Someone will be thrilled to find a Gibson in that kind of condition.

Almost forgot. Enjoy your short recovery. You could have been doing radiation and chemo for a year or more -- I have friends and relatives who have gone that route.

I've been playing for 22 years, teaching guitar and piano lessons was my 'job' in high scool. I had 13 students every week and it made for pretty good income for a high school kid. It was basically how I had financed my restoration of my 78 LTD II. Looks like a beautiful guitar. Those used to be my 'dream' guitar actually, but after playing them I didn't care much for the thinner neck profile. Full access to entire fretboard was nice. I had a hard on for PRS for the longest time and bought one, but then ended up with a Les Paul Standard that is my true baby. They had a fatter neck that I like, and they were a lot heavier guitar. I have to say it but I put PRS McCarty pickups in that guitar...almost a sacrilege.

You know Gibson started in my town, Kalamazoo.

My son just swapped around for a 1962 Gibson LGL...He is happy!
