Fresh Air Respirator

I was thinking about buying a fresh air respirator and found a Breathe-cool II for a penny less than $320 (had it been a penny more I obviously wouldn't think of buying it).

Before I could order it, my wife turned me in to my doctor -- I am apparently too stupid to breathe when I sleep. To treat this sleep apnea condition, I have to use a CPAP (Constant Positive Airway Pressure) machine at night. Consists of a blower, some hose and a face mask. Like wearing one of these Breathe-cool units when I sleep.

Because I'm really really old, Medicare paid for the sleep tests as well as the machine. The one I use has a computer inside (so they can tell if and how long I use it - and take it away if I don't) and costs $760. It works great and has eliminated my snoring and the number of times I stop breathing in an hour dropped from 74 to 2 (as Shine says, "You can't fix stupid" but that's a pretty good start).

A plain Jane pump runs 5-cents less than $125 and that's what interests me. That's half the price of the Breathe-cool II pump. The mask and hose can be purchased separately for $110 or $135 more (25' or 50' hose).

i buy bullard hoods. the hood it's self is disposable. i use compressed air in the booth. it goes through 2 filters and a toilet paper filter to the hood. i have a 3 ft lead off it for my gun. not the best set up but i don't paint daily any more.

brother in law wears a bubble at night too.

I was at 70% for most of the night they tested. A little lower and you don't wake up at all. My doctor already freaks out when he checks my pulse -- mid 40s most days. Here I thought quitting drinking and smoking would be enough. Now I have to remember to breathe?

I thought about using the pump I have but it might be difficult to explain all those twenty minute naps. Oh, it's a rental as well (I know, but I used to have a rental car two weeks a month and I checked the fluids and emptied the ashtrays on those).

Got mine last December and changed my life. I'm wide awake all day and can sty up till 12:00 if I want and still get up at 6:00. I was sleeping till noon on the weekends before and still tired.

My wife also has one and we have some extra hoses and masks. Been thinking the same thing - that would make for a great air supply for the garage.
