flex buffer

bought the small flex buffer back in the summer. after using it i really love this thing. it is so lite i can take the handle off and still control it. the only thing is it is so small the cord is always under foot and i got some feet :). i use a sweat band on my arm now and run the cord through a belt loop to keep the cord behind me.
the hex-logic pads are great. best foam pads i've found so far. i threw all my wool pads away. tired of chasing swirl marks . the hex-logic are orange / white / black ( there are several others also ). by the time you get to the black pad you can really see the difference. they sell a pad cleaner but i suspect it is just windex . i clean my pad after 2 applications of compound. makes a world of difference.

this is a link to the pads.

i have the small buffer. not an orbital .

the chemical guys sells them in kits with pads and cleaner sometimes with compounds. you can get small bottles of compound from them .

Thank you for the review on the pads. I am not in the market for a new buffer but I have been wanting to change my pads out.

LOVE the sweat band idea! I've had buffer cords fall off my shoulder a thousand times.

Shine, can foam pads really cut as well as twisted wool? I tried once a long time ago and it took what seemed like forever to remove 2500 marks. Maybe things have changed? What do you use for a cutting compound?

be careful on that site !!!! you can spend a lot of money. they sell everything except for somebody else to do it .

the orange pad is a cutting pad. it cuts pretty good. then the white to polish and black to finish off. one thing is i never get any of those god awful swirls that seem to take forever to get rid of. seems i get them with any wool pad plus the foam pads clean out real easy. i use the windex and then a water bottle. spins the spent compound right out.

all in all i think i save a little time by using the foam over a wool pad. i will use a lot more orange pads than the white and black. going to get a blue pad to play with too.

took me a while to switch to the foam pads. The wool might buff the scratches out quicker, but you spend more time getting the swirls out from the wool like you say. Especially with Universal clear, given it's softness for a while. With a good cutting compound the foam pads work great. Going to try these you mentioned next time I need to buy...using the 3m white foam pad now. When everything is finished out well in 3000, makes it that much easier and I think is the key for the foam pads.

i'm going to order a set of lake country pads also. they may hold compound a little better. using 4-5 pads may seem like a lot but i look at it the same way as paper. at least i can stick to one or two compounds this way.

Shine,
I think its been a year now since you got that Flex lightweight buffer are you still happy with it. My old 6 pound piece of garbage is getting as tired as I am.

if you order from the chemical guys you can get a backing plate and 3 hexlogic pads plus some pad cleaner. i swear it is windex. i started using windex after i ran out. it is amazing how much better it works if you keep the pad washed . i always started with a clean pad but never rinsed it during buffing just used an air blower on it.

Shine can you list how you go about cleaning your foam pads??? thank you!

each time i reload i spray the pad good , rub it with my fingers then spin it. i keep a water bottle handy to rinse . you spray down the middle good and it spins out the sides. it only takes a min and keeps everything cleaner.all that dry stuff is doing nothing but making a mess. but then most everything i do is upside down or backwards..... :)

JeremyB are you using the 3m 05737 or the 05723 compounding foam pad??? Thanks!
