Flattened clear over metallics

If I spray a flattened clear over a metallic color, does that kill the metallic 'effect' when it is in the sun. Or in other words, will a flattened clear also dull down the metallics sparkle. Thanks

it will dull the bright sparkle. it makes more of a textured look to the color. check out this set of sportbike fairings i did a few years back. this is a metallic OD green. you can see it looks grainy from the metallic. in the sun you can tell its not a solid color but it doesnt have that twinkle.
