Finishing work for matte paint

I am thinking about shooting matte paint either as SS or BC/CC with a flattening additive. I searched a lot on the net, but could not find any useful information about how to wetsand/polish the matte paint. Many claim that this is actually not possible.

So my question is about how to deal with possible trash or other minor imperfections in the matte paint?

Its a one shot deal bro.. So if it has trash, and if it is more than a few specs you can live with, you will have to re shoot it to get it clean..

No sanding and buffing of matte finishes!

Thank you for the reply, Bondoking. I was afraid that it is like this. This is really tough! I don't think I would be able to shoot it then, as I am a beginner (painting at home) and I do quite a lot of minor shooting mistakes which need to be corrected by sanding and buffing.

When I shot light gray epoxy, the surface looked really matte and nice. After sanding, it still continued to look nice.

When I shot black 2K primer, the surface looked really bad after sanding. I mean it did not have a uniform matte finish.

But what would happen if one shoots black epoxy? I know that light gray epoxy looks great. But will one get a uniform matte finish with black epoxy, particularly after sanding?

I am asking this because I am running out of time and may not be able to finish painting this year. So I want to shoot something on my car that will protect it against the elements (as I will be driving it), but at the same time wouldn't not look ugly. Then next year, I could get back to painting it. So I thought that black epoxy could do this. But I have no experience with it.

Yes you can seal the body with a coat or two of epoxy and drive it.. That will protect the body while u wait to work on it again. Epoxy has a beautiful sheen to it for that rat rod look..
