euro vs 2100

Tinman

For the sake of argument, lets say cost is a wash per sprayable qt.

Euro(5000) with fast act(and which ever reducer for job size and temp) @4:1:1.5
vs
2100 production with fast (& polar if needed) if it can be made to be as fast as euro.

Can someone break down 1 (out of dust time) 2(dry to handle) 3(dry to buff) 4(buffability window) 5(peel vs flatness)

I just started using euro(5000) with fast act and really like it.Only used on 2 jobs so far and matches factory peel pretty nice(maybe slightly flatter).
Wondering if 2100 is easier too get lay flat or if the 2 are similar. I'm sure playing with different reducers and gun settings euro will lay out glass smooth also.
Just curiuos about why u like 1 over the other. I think euro will work 90% of the time, but may think of some 2100 for jobs you want glass smooth and just turn off the brain and spray(if its the case it's easier to do so).
The obvious choice will be Uv when I need restroation/show car clear.

At the bottom of the page is some info from Rodman. Doesn't compare it to the 2100 but gives you the dry times and mil thickness.

I've used all the clears and think I am down to just using the universal for everything. If I need it quicker, a splash of polar does the trick. I really don't do anything that needs to be painted and gone the same day anyway.

Few guys here love the euro and few love the 2100 for the production stuff though...hopefully they can chime in.

This is the kind of information that we can hopefully see in the tech sheets in future updates. ( ;) )

Wow how to reply?

i have used them all.

i love UV and can do anything with it( as last week i cleared a Hood with polar and let it leave 5 hours later after polish.Per Barrys instructions of course.Love this clear.

Euro i never really got into the mix it anyway you want with little reducer or more.
meaning 4-1-1 up to 4-1-3 reducer just never really floated my boat.beautiful clear dont get me wrong.

2100 i have used gallons upon gallons with any act. and adding polar in dead of winter with great results time after time.

i have sprayed several all over jobs(not restorations just all over late model jobs)not that it matters.

the clear lays out decent and with 3 coats sanded and buffed looks Rockin!

the choice is hard to make?it all depends on the shop conditions the sprayer ect.

i buy UV in quarts and do motorcycle stuff with it as i can seal in lines and graphics with 3 coats(sometimes i add a extra)and have no dieback, solvent issues b/c the stuff is made for this.

i use 2100 for all my production work.i also use some finish 1 720 for lower line stuff ect b/c my jobber gives me a killer deal on it by the case but in no way do i think its as good as any of the SPI clears.

no matter what u cant go wrong with any of them.

get u some of all of them and try them.that is the only way u will know which one to stick with.

best of luck Travis

Hotbo, for a less experienced sprayer (that would be me) you would probably recommend Universal over the 2100? The reason I'm asking is I have a new sata (4000) and I chose the 1.4 tip when maybe I should have gone with 1.3... So I thought the high-solid's in the 2100 might help me out.

What is the recoat story with Euro? Is it anything like the 30-minute repeat available with Universal?

I haven't sprayed any of the other clears, except universal. So far, for me I live it. I spray it with a 2000rp Sata gun. It lays out nice, and buffs great. I did learn its best to cut it open after dry, throw it out in the sun a few hours, bring it in and let it cool, then buff. It buffed like butter. I would be curious just to try the other clears, just to know. I now understand though what they say about Universal being able to be used on everything. It truly is "Universal". By the way, Universal Clear is High Solids, too!

I went ahead and chose the UV. It's just a late model car but it's mine and I haven't decided whether I'm selling or keeping it. If I keep it then it would be nice the have it 'gleam' eh?! Thanks SPI, all your stuff I've used so far has been top-drawer (literally) in quality for a price that's closer to the value area. I don't know how we've been so lucky to have you this long!!
